Reflections

Now before I even get started just know this blog is for me, those that look like me, those that think similar to me, those that came before me, those who have survived the same experiences as me- This for the MF culture!

Here you’ll find things that cause me to critically think, personal insights & opinions; How my brain works, some of the magic I use throughout my experience & exclusive details to my tastings, events ect.

So most of you all don’t know I drive for uber to supplement my income. I try not to steal from my business; a struggle I know most of us small business owners face. Any who I do enjoy meeting the different people daily and most importantly it keeps me appreciative of all that I do have even though my goals & dreams are much bigger!

Yal the storiessss I have so many! Last weeks highlights- OG Lakers Granny she was so cool to talk to she lived in LA during the Magic era. She scored tickets to the infamous Championship game last minute from a Co-worker; she explained how she didn’t have time to get home to change so she went suited & booted(her words). To her surprise she was in a suite & everything was unlimited! She said the feeling in the stadium & the city was electrifying! Said she had such a good time she forgot she had on pumps the entire time & couldn’t feel her feet driving home. She said it was one of the best moments of her life. She currently loves LeBron & says he can’t do no wrong in her eyes & you know what hell yea granny! She was such a delight to talk to. WE BEEN LIT DOING AMAZING SHIT!

The moment this week that made me laugh was a Young King(maybe 5-6) & his mom gets in and immediately & I do mean soon as his ass touched the seat he says I’m board. I say listen to the music; We can’t be friends by Deborah Cox & R.L comes on, baby boy is silent. Once the song is done playing he says “now that’s a really good song” in awe. Me & mom share a laugh & in union say you have good taste! That authentic connection we have to R&B and how it makes us feel as Black Americans. Unmatched. The clairvoyance of us saying the same thing at the same time, to me this screams divine connection. We introduced that young man to what music can be & how it fills time so beautifully.

My last memorable moment this week was a couple here for SMU’s parents weekend. We somehow got on wine & spirit brands, business ect. He mentions a woman in Gin or something making waves in the industry; I instantly corrected him & let him know he was thinking of the one & only Fawn Weaver! Whiskey business baby act like you know. We were discussing why she’s in the news & said sounds like BS to him I confirmed it is indeed bullshit! I explained the issues at hand and challenged them to ask for Uncle Nearest in any of the bars on Lower Greenville & see how many actually have it. It’s not that the product is hard to get or hard to sell- it’s not. They see this black owned Woman lead brand as a threat- AS THEY FUCKING SHOULD! I believe Fawn is here for woman like me- Bold, Fierce, unwavering in her journey & building houses with doors for the next generation to walk through. The table where we will sit is building built by someone not afraid to do the needful! This gives me all the confidence and confirmation that opening a versatile tasting room is very necessary ! I will curate a place Black owned wine & spirits can call home!
